Fernz helps local businesses run their web presence. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it.
Who we are
Fernz is a Canadian service that builds and runs an AI-assisted web presence — website, social posts, Google listing, email, plus a simple jobs, quotes, and invoicing workflow. "We", "us", and "Fernz" refer to the service; "you" refers to the business owner using it.
What we collect
- Information you give us — your business name, trade, service area, contact details, the facts and updates you tell your brain, and photos you upload.
- Your customers' information — when someone contacts you through your site, we process what they submit (name, email or phone, message, and any photos) so we can pass it to you. Uploaded images are stripped of location (EXIF) data.
- Payment information — subscription payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Technical information — basic device and usage data, and a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in.
How we use it
- To design and run your website and prepare updates across your channels.
- To run your incoming jobs, draft estimates, and send invoices you approve.
- To process your subscription and send you service messages.
- To send marketing email only where you've consented — and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- To keep the service secure and to improve it.
AI processing
To draft your content, the facts and materials you provide may be processed by trusted AI providers. Your content is used to generate your drafts — it is not sold, and it is not used to train third-party models beyond producing your results. Nothing an AI drafts is published or sent until you approve it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make Fernz work — hosting, email delivery, payment processing, and AI drafting — and with the platforms you choose to connect (such as Facebook, Instagram, and Google), and only the content you approve for them.
The approval gate
Nothing is posted publicly or emailed on your behalf without your approval, unless you've deliberately set a standing approval for a specific channel. You stay in control of what goes out.
Data location & retention
Your data is hosted in Canada. We keep it for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You can ask us to export or delete your data.
Your rights
Consistent with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you can ask to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and withdraw consent for marketing at any time. Email us and we'll help.
Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit and access controls. No method of storage or transmission is ever perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the date above.
